WOODHAVEN PARKS & RECREATION
BASEBALL & SOFTBALL PROGRAMS
Welcome
2021 Woodhaven Baseball & Softball Season
On behalf of the City of Woodhaven, the Woodhaven Parks and Recreation Department staff welcomes you to the youth baseball and softball programs. Over the years, these special youth programs have provided thousands of children with positive and rewarding experiences during the spring and summer months. Experiences beginning with T-Ball at the age of 5 and continuing through 18 years of age, the participants learn the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, fitness, cooperation and respect.
The success of the baseball and softball programs can be attributed to the adult volunteers who share their personal time with children as positive role models with a focus on teaching them the game in a supportive and trusting atmosphere.
In 2021, the program’s success is still dependent on adult leadership and commitment to community. If you are interested in coaching a team, we encourage you to complete the coaching application under the “Coaches” link on this website. Once completed, you are asked to submit the completed application to the Woodhaven Parks and Recreation Department, 23101 Hall Road. After a review and approval of the completed application by the League Supervisor and Recreation Director, coaching candidates are required to complete a background check and concussion training program.
This website is available to keep you updated on all areas of the baseball and softball programs before, during and after the season. The website will improve communication related to rain-outs, schedules, field locations and important contact information.
In closing, we want to thank the Mayor, City Council, City Administrator and Department of Public Services Staff for supporting youth sports in Woodhaven. The recent improvements to the playing fields and bathroom facilities are truly appreciated and we look forwarded to further upgrades in the coming year.
Most of all, we thank our families for your participation and dedication to a sport which provides a multitude of benefits to the youth of our area. We are very excited for the upcoming season as new participants experience the game for the first time and others build on their skills from previous seasons.
Please feel free to contact the Recreation Director at Trooney@woodhavenmi.org. Your questions, suggestions and comments are welcome.
Sincerely,
The Woodhaven Parks and Recreation Department Staff
